Team Walrus History
Started at Accurate Audio doing custom work not the boring box in the back of the car, we were doing real custom work . We got this Nisson Frontier Truck first system for a Meca show @ sound investment to do sound quality the system took 1st Place in sound quality, Best install, Phat Truck award, Best in Show, 1st in Reality spl, 3rd in regular spl. The kid who got 1st place in regular spl said he was going to have us build some thing for him, he said "you guys know how to make it look good and sound good you just dont know how to make it LOUD"!! Which just pissed us off.
Spl is nothing but LOUD NOISE unless your accually going to do audio drag racing. Why are you going to build an spl car to go to the gas station. Thats what spl is building something loud that you can't enjoy. You just stand behind it and turn it on, you cant drive down the road and listen to music. So we stewed about it for a week. The second week found a car for 200 dollars, Dodge Colt it didnt have 4th gear, needed axels, had been in a flood, but we drove it with out tags to the shop gutted it and started building it. There was a month until the next car audio show so we spent 1 week stewing and 1 week buying and gutting the car and now had two weeks to get it ready. Ordered product and waited, finally friday afternoon day before the show the product showed up. Stayed up all night to get it all in. Two 15 inch subwoofers and 4 amplfiers. So we get up to the line and do a 157.6 Broke state record but without being Meca members we could not record the numbers just lost world finals by a tenth of a point.
So in 2001 we changed out equipement and in qualifying round qualified a dB over the compition but where going to be disquallifed for not having carpet in the car, which earlier in the year we asked because the rule book doesnt have anything in it for carpet so now spent all night getting carpet installed. Next day Crushed everyone Ended up winning world finals 1st place 157.7dB. So now with the world Championship under our belt we didnt plan to continue in 2002 but in june the Mempheus audio rep call to get the car back in the show. So we got products and built the car back up and won back to back world finals. In 2003 went with the Dodge Colt to one show and decided to get serious and got a 1981 voltswagon truck built it up didn't get it tuned just right and got 10th place.
2004 the mempheus audio rep called and had switch companys to MA audio so we switched with him. Got the product and built the VW truck back up. Getting ready for spring break nationals the morning before the show and one of the amps burnt up called the MA audio rep said we are not going to make it the amp failed and we are not able to get the system back up in time, He said you can't do that you must make an apperance so get down here to daytona we'll have a new amp waiting for you we ended up getting 3rd place in the show and finished 5th in the world.
In 2005 made massive adjustments to the truck gutted it cut the bed up and welded in a fram out of 2"x4" steal beams got it done, made our points and the day before world finals got new products and tested the system and blew the windshield, Got an emergency windshield installed and finished testing and burnt up the subs so made it to the show late and they let us drop the car off. But we still had no subs to finish testing. So day of the show got up early barrowed subs set every thing up just in time to qualify and qualified 164 dB the only one hitting that loud so we thought we were golden but during the compition we had equipment failure and still was able to finish 3rd in the world with 163.4dB. 2006 didnt make it to world finals due to illness in the family. Due to not showing up at world finals 2006 we lost our sponser.
So now in 2007 we are going to go BIG.
